If you're about to do ball joints and there is a *hint* of concern that they might be tight, just grab this or hire it. No amount of sledge hammering, air hammering, WD40'ing or swearing and gesturing would separate my E70 BMW X5 control arm ball joints from the knuckle. This knocked it over easily. My only tip; don't be afraid to just keep tightening. Even when you're only getting a mm or more of movement. Its at precisely this stage that they'll likely release. Thanks Pat and team.
